The complex, located on the Mediterranean shore in the city of Oran (Algeria), contains the congresses and conferences centres. It is one of the most important buildings for the economic development of north Africa. As an addition to the project, the five-star hotel Le Meridien hotel caters for the participants in the conferences and meetings. This architectural complex has an area paved with natural stone of about 47,000 m². Some 30,000 m² are covered with Sierra Elvira and white marble on pavings, claddings, stairs, skirting boards, etc. There are 8,000 m² of granites of various flamed colours in the central plaza separating the Congresses Centre from the Conference Centre, 5,000 m² of slate for claddings and floors in the hotel suites and some 4,000 m² of a large variety of materials such as shell marble, sandstone, limestone, marble and onyx, forming a wide range of colours.
An empire in northern Algeria
The Mohamed Benahmed Convention Centre stands proudly on the Mediterranean coast, on the north west side of the city of Oran in Algeria. The building makes good use of contemporary architecture design, with a façade that blends the colour of desert sand with the turquoise blue typically found in Algerian culture.
This architectural complex was built to host the 16th International Conference & Exhibition on Liquefied Natural Gas, held in April 2010. The Convention Centre comprises the Conference Centre, Exhibition Hall, five star Le Meridien luxury hotel and underground car park, all of which were purpose-built.Leer Mas
